Pigeon Talk

hello pigeon raisers, i have a few questions to ask about pigeons maybe one of you guys could help me out. sorry don't want to hijack this thread hope this is okay. :)

okay this might sound stupid but here we go.

my family owns a farm (no one lives on it) and there are hundreds of feral pigeons about a half a mile away. the farmer wants them gone as they poop all over his stuff. (he also rents our farm) but said it would be cool if i attracted the pigeons over to our old barns and such to get them away from his house and cattle feed.

so how would one go to attract them to a different spot? what type of feed? am thinking of setting up nesting sites for them as well in the old barn and buildings (odd one already lives in them) so he has less pigeons bugging him and pooping all over his stuff.
i would like to build the things as much as possible to keep prices low. and to note i do plan on hunting and eating them.

thanks itsasmallfarm out.

I’m fairly new to pigeons, so it’s an interesting question to me, I would not have known an answer.
Welcome aboard, hope you’ll let us know how it goes for you!

Anyone bred any grizzle birds before? I was told my pairing should produce about 50/50 black spreads and black grizzles but these two have a lot of white so far, although the one in the foreground is much darker.
Do they darken over time? I'm open to surprises as well so if no one knows I'll just have to wait and see ;)

Would depend if the parents are full grizzle or only grizzle split. What are the parents?

I'm not sure, here's the mother. The father is the black one in my avatar.

Hiya @Fields Mountain Farm ! Haven't seen you in a bit. Isn't this weather amazing?

Ok WV, I would expect eggs in another month, when busy a bit older :)
:frow been busy in all this beautiful weather! Im lovin it! :celebrate
Bad news yall. My pigeon that was egg bound, appears to be egg bound again. Its not able to fly. I can feel the egg, and it seems to be closer than last time. I don't know what happened. it wouldn't have lasted this long if it was egg bound this whole tome, right? I'm really puzzled right now. It's still pooping, although they're green, runny, and sticking to it's feathers. Any ideas what I should do? should it come inside? I'm not opposed to that! It has oyster shell available, so it should have plenty of calcium. Any ideas? Thanks.
:(
I hope you can get her over it.. Ive no ideas that haven't been given already so just sending good thoughts your way! :hugs

thank you everyone for the reply's.
thought it over, and i think am still going to try and make a pigeon loft out of the barn.

now i know i won't get the mature or adults over at the other place but you never know i might be able to get some pigeons breeding and have a wild flock over where my family farm is. but even if i was able to get a few of the off spring to come on over would be awesome.

so you will be seeing me around here asking questions about pigeons and there housing

thanks.
