Pigeon Talk

@biophiliac have you had to keep tossing eggs this year? What is your flock up to now?

@Hokum Coco are you at your goal of 50?

Yep, they are still trying to make more pigeons. I'm sure I've pulled more than 40 eggs which is kinda sad but not as sad as 60 birds in a tiny loft! 4 have hatched and weaned so far this year - 2 for Doo and 743 and 2 for Loper and 735. So I'm up to 21 or 22 I believe.

Good! I think in a week it will be done. I have to paint the inside today, outside tomorrow, then divide it in half. After that, it will just be small stuff. Oh, and add some more 2×4 supports.
What are the dimensions of the new loft? Are you going to enclose the porch with wire or...?

Ok. Yea, I better wait till I'm in the country. :p
Do they fly out of sight sometimes? Or not really?

My Wyze camera caught mine in flight last Friday. They do this pretty much daily, fly the length of my yard. But usually they land inside the fence. This time they went over. 5 circle around, and 1 didn't return. I looked all over for her. But by bedtime, she was back. I'm not sure where she hid out for he day.

And I took this video this morning when I was letting them out. Gives you an idea of their volume. The first chicken crowing is a Cream Legbar. Later ones are bantam cochins and seramas.

I was hoping you'd post those! :celebrate

Yes @backyard pigeons it happen today when the second squab in a clutch of eggs broke free of it's shell Again 50 pigeons, squeakers. and squabs. Plus I must have ½+- dozen pairs on eggs currently. Now if I just can get them all trained and orientated.
