Pigeon Talk

We built a platform under mine too. I put a screen under half of it with a rabbit tray to pull out to clean. I Put the water and food over the tray. It worked great for messy ducklings. Lol

A lady that came and bought call ducklings from me yesterday has fantails (showed me some pics on her phone) she fell in love with my pigeons. She said she might want some when I get around to selling some. (Or we might trade some) :D
It's always fun to meet another pigeon fancier! How many sats do you Think you will have before you sell?

I had that happen yesterday! I just took the egg out hopefully she'll not lay in there again! There's enough bowls!
I had ordered fake eggs but I had a big fiasco with a glitch on the site I was ordering from where the standard shipping magically changed itself to something in the ballpark of $88 which made me cancel my order and the new ones I ordered weren't quite early enough.
Eventually I'm going to swap them with the egg(s) this hen just laid because I want to stop them breeding at this point and let my two squabs mature and train and fly all five of them at once and see how they do with the hawks.

I figure I’ll see how many I end up with at the end of this year, and start choosing ones to sell for next spring.

I never did find another egg after finding the one on the ground the other day. So I have no clue who laid it.

Its happened again. Ash's first two eggs got busted and thrown out the nest. She has layed again yesterday and I come home from work to find this egg had been busted too. It was on the opposite side of the loft. First time I could put it down to inexperience but twice and this soon after she layed it. I'm almost certain it is her pair that it doing it. What's happening? Has this happen to anybody before?

Sorry, that is disappointing! Here only a few have showed up broken on the floor, out of many dozen.

I'm so sorry. That's disappointing. One of my roller pairs always breaks their eggs. I let them try for the last time, and it ended in one broken egg, and the other one cold. They are now going to be flyers. The guy I got them from said that they were extraordinary birds, and to never fly them. Well, it's pointless to keep a non breeding bird from flying, so they are going to fly.

For your birds, I suspect they get off to get an intruder out of the box,and when they do, they break an egg. Can you put cardboard on the front like this?

I Think it would greatly help.

This is the nest area and bowl. The egg was on the other side of the loft.

there is no cardboard but they do have to get past the cage and the male who will have been in there during the day.
