I just had a blizzard and here you guys are talking about eggs and babies!!!!Hi everyone! I have to say, I do love how we have “healthy” discussions about bird husbandry here. One of my duck groups on FB got ugly the other day and mods deleted a bunch of posts. Since I started this thread, I don’t think there have been any major arguments, everyone understands others’ points of view. We are so lucky, and I am soooo thankful for everyone’s open opinions!!
So Duff, the hen of mine that hatched the 2 New Years Eve babies is on 2 eggs again!I’m not even sure when she laid them, as I didn’t expect it this soon. Bonnie and Clyde still mate all the dang time, but Bonnie has yet to lay eggs again. All my Dec-Jan babies are doing great. Guess we’ll have 2 more in a couple weeks!

. I used to belong to a different forum (an all pigeon one that I wont even mention the name of) and this place is 1000% better. I deleted every single post of mine there because I didn't trust the moderators to do it when I demanded they close my account. That place was so unwelcoming to anyone who was against their thoughts that I didn't want to leave any of my advice on there. I didn't know I'd be finding a place to talk pigeons on a chicken forum haha.

No... unfortunately chickens (poultry in general) are not allowed in my town. Pigeons are allowed because a long time ago someone took the town to court over it and won and it's now allowed. I suppose chickens are technically allowed, but you have to go through and get your neighbors to sign some kind of petition and then present it to the town board and wait and see if they vote to approve a permit for you (plus I think you have to reapply/renew it every year or 2). Basically I have a couple neighbors who I don't see eye to eye with, and also don't feel like it's worth all the extra trouble just to be able to have like 3 chickens max. So it's just my pigeons for me... which I'm fine with
