BP....I'd sit there all day watching the babies! How interesting that the older birds are feeding them. Didn't realize the rest of the flock would help out. Pigeons are just cool!

Loft is done and Cannoli and Crumpet are Settling in! Soup and Wallace have 1 week untill their egg hatches I believe so I'm not moving them in yet!

I think we're on day 7 with the eggs now, I lost track. I guess it will be a pleasant surprise!

Your hen is so beautiful! Did you name her Paloma? I can't remember.

I have 2 new hatchlings, one hatched yesterday and one today. The eggs are from Harriet (hen that escaped a hawk attack leaving her tail behind last month) and Lonan (one of my original cockbirds). The unusual part is I took one of the eggs and put it under another pair that were sitting on fakes just before it hatched. So now each pair has one chick to raise. Harriet just weaned a pair of babies last month but the other pair hasn't been allowed to since early last year. They are good parents though.

nice birds, very nice loft, and good looking food! Looks like a high quality mix. They will love the extra space, even if they don't use all of it at first.

I love how you spread out the eggs so all your pairs get to raise a baby or two each year! will you be keeping the babies?

Baby pigeon is standing up by himself like a real bird now! He is almost as big as mom, and about half the size of dad. You can't see it well in the pic but he's got some beautiful ash brown striping on his wings and the back of the head, as well as some silver-looking areas as well! Haven't decided on a name yet, our family just calls him baby pigeon, and I call him baby when I talk to him, so it may stick! He seems to really like hanging out in corners. Today he decided to hide out behind the heating panel in the nest box (off for the summer) and he gave me a heart attack!

Beautiful! I'm not sure why but I've never seen a crested breed with the long beaks. I usually associate the crest with only short beaked breeds. Pretty neat.
