I would like to hand feed a baby, but I’m not home all the time did to personal stuff and I can’t spend enough time with him. How old is your baby?

It seems like pigeons sole goal in life is to multiply. Kiwi and Peach have been exhibiting courting and nesting behavior, and have selected a new nesting site. Which I don’t think is a good thing. I’m a little afraid they might stop feeding Nugget. Peach spends most of his time guarding the new nest site and I rarely see them tending to Nugget.

Generally mom and dad will feed junior until about day 20. Then she lays another set of eggs, and it all starts over again. Dad solo feeds junior from that day onto weaning. At about one month old, junior can feed himself own seeds. (even though they may still beg dad for some food)
BTW, junior is no longer getting crop milk, but rather regurgitated seeds with some of pigeons saliva. That is not equivalent to crop milk in the SUPER DUPER nutritional value.
Generally, if room provides, they like to make a new nest for next newcomers.

Peeps whistle only because whistling sound is heard further than yelling sound. .... The sound the pigeons hear , they associate to the message owner is trying to convey. Using a sport whistle will work just as well, and when you train your pigeons to that whistle sound, they will remember it.

I started hand feeding him at 10 days old. I did there feedings a day, but he only needed one big one. the reason I did three small ones was to get him used to me, and get three times as much training in. (Every time he comes to me on command, he gets a little food). I am using a referee whistle. I wanted the same pitch every blow, so I decided to not use my mouth. He is 23 days old now.

I wouldn't train one to much older than 10 days,. it's pretty important to start early on. But don't rush. I was forced on 3 different occasions to hand feed a baby, most younger than 10 days, and it never ended well. for the little guy that I'm training now, I took him from his parents. He was falling behind quite a bit, and I was confident that I could do it with him being a bit older than most I had done. If I did start to fail him, I would place him back under his parents, and put his blogger brother under another pair with similar sized squabs, but not age. (He got most of the food, so he was quite big for his age.)

you don't have to know how! Just get a whistle, or shake a can with rocks, etc. But a whistle is best, they can hear it a good ways away.

My little pigeon just ate a fire fly. It was in the grass near him and he just munched it down. some things online say they are poisonous, other things say that birds dine on them. I'm not sure what's gonna happen. anyone know if he will be alright?

More research isn't sounding good. I don't have the money for a vet, if they could even do anything. Nothing I can do, that I've found.

Now I'm wondering if it has sour crop too. I realized that it's crop didn't empty between yesterdays feeding and todays. How could I confirm this? If it does have this, what would be the best way of treating it? It hasn't had it for long, if it does have it.
