Here and there as usual. I've had the most success letting them out sporadically and at different times. I know they'd prefer to be out every single day but that will definitely be asking for trouble. I had a young Cooper's dart out of the trees at them while they were flying the other day but they quickly climbed well above the treeline and escaped.Hah! I'm glad he's fine. Are you having problems with hawks?
That has to be one of the best feelings around.I also had one of the young birds go AWOL for about a week but he's back now!
I might get to ask that... Mr hawk attacked again. He chased my very first racing homer to ever hatch and make it, it was a even match, both going crazy fast, probably 55-60 mph. I clapped and yelled and the hawk got confused and gave up. But, it scared my birds pretty bad, so I have gotten 9 out of 11 birds back, (yes! the one bird that got chased did make it back!) But, I'm waiting for two more, but the tropical storm is rolling into TN now, we see will see when or if they do come back. They will have gone swimming if they do come at this point.Qwerty...did you ask that bird where he'd been for a week?

That had been my experience as well, with the only exception being the pigeon I picked up after being found in another state, so I was extremely surprised when I came home from work to a pigeon in the grass after 7 days! That has to be one of the best feelings around.![]()
I have had pigeons return next day, after hawks scattered the flock. After one day, in my case those that did not return, did not.![]()
I would guess this one has good homing skills. Could have got lost due to the possible microwave towers
