Tell us a little more of the story behind this picture? :)

The little ones are Java Sparrows that I hand-raised on formula last month so they are VERY tame and love people. They also love the pigeons and will follow them around and do everything they do. Skittles was drinking out of the cat's water bowl, and then just laid down to relax so all the babies came flying over to also play in the water and then preen her leg feathers, which they find very interesting. Skittles is patient and mostly let's them jump all around her like a big sibling.

That is so cute! Thank you. So is Skittles female?

They love her so much and she is really playing a sort of mother goose role! You can even see how she pecks the water and they repeat after her and do it too, monkey see monkey do.
Sweet. I not only saw that - I kept watching that over, and over, and over ... Lol! Observational learning plays a huge role in my pigeon flock as well. I believe each flock develops cultural behaviors that are passed down and transmitted to new members.

Do Olive and Skittles get along well?
