One of the hens in my flying section was busy! I love the look of the stick nest. Also my daughter was born today and we went with the name Birdie so I figured it would be fitting to share here

Hello can anyone help! My hen had finally layed its second egg, but now it is the morning and she can't seem to walk, she waddles and yet I don't see any sign of eggboundness in her to not feeling anything stuck in her.

Hmmm, has she improved?
Usually they only lay 2, and then sit on them.

Maybe some of the others with more experience can help. @sourland

I took the last one away from her due to her tendency to break her own eggs. I made another thread for this and someone told me I need to feed her more calcium, which I probably do.

I use a dremel to trim my pigeon and game birds nails what do you folks use?

I use regular human nail clippers and a good quality file, works for beaks too

I let my pigeons out into the duck pen yesterday. Apparently when I closed the trap door, I failed to secure the latch. Today they apparently knocked the trap door open and got out. The bad news is that the main duck pen gate was open, so they had free access to fly wherever they wanted. They have never been allowed to do this before!

I tried pushing them back toward the gate, but I’m sure you know that was futile. I opened a section of the netting above the landing board so they can come back from above. So now I’m just watching and waiting to see what happens. 8 are still out.

I think when they get hungry,,, they know where dinner is served
In the meantime,, they are enjoying the new territory. They are not homers looking for their previous home.
All pigeons can be loft flown. The danger to your pigeons now,,, would be flying raptors.
