Considering the mother is completely unrelated I am not too worried. IMO inbreeding is the only way to create a pure strain. Yes, and racing homers are some of the healthiest birds in existence. They have to be.
I was just concerned because Biff seems to love his children a lot and still feeds them and stuff.

Should be fine then! Half-sibling to half-sibling is a popular and pretty safe method of line breeding.

I’m not familiar with the genetics of the eye color but is it possible to mate the hen to two different males and get the same desired results? Then you would have in theory 4 young half-sibling birds to breed from next year.

That makes sense to me.

He got out today after I took those photos and tried to return him to the coop. He flew WAY faster and better than I had expected. I sent my laziest homers out to bring him down from the trees and he actually flew with them for a bit. His body is not that much larger than some of my homers but his wings and tail are at least 2-3x larger. I was cringing watching him fly laps and land in the trees as it got increasingly windy.
A harrowing experience overall but I managed to get him to land in the yard and slowly herded him into the homer loft with them. Hopefully this will be his last excursion for a while.

I am concerned about him getting nailed by a hawk. I do not think his great size would be a deterrent.
I was told he would be able to fly from A to B or up to rooftops but that would be about it. He got quite high and had a lot of stamina for his size but he was still extremely slow compared to the homers.
