We've had a couple of incidents where very small chicks have suddenly had eyes swollen shut or scratching at them and causing injury.
I am wondering if the fact that these tinies are laying to sleep in the shavings and perhaps catching a sharp edge in the eye? Larger chicks and full grown chickens wouldn't likely have this issue, but chicks would.
I have done enough carpentry work to know that sawdust in the eyes hurts like the dickens and can scratch a cornea badly.
Thoughts?
