Pine Straw/Needles

I am having to move our free range area again so our babies have new vegetation to level to the bare ground. The green Acorns are not my concern this time, now its Pine Straw/needles mixed in with the grass and weeds. My question is this, Has anyone had issues with their Ducks feet do to the somewhat pointed needles?

There is not a bunch of them in that area and I was going to rake it good first before turning them loose. The problem is that new needles seem to continually keep dropping every day in that area. Should I be concerned about this?

I doubt that they will cause problems especially if you rake them up periodically.

It's not like the ground is super covered with them, but I still wanted to check and see if they might be a potential problem for their soft little tootsies!

I know of people using the pine Straw for landscaping mulch around trees and bushes, I have just never heard of it being used for any type of bedding or ground cover for their animals.
