Pinellas Park, FL chicken swap / tack re-sell it 05/22/11 (Sunday)

For those looking for chickens, we will be bringing our 1 layer, Henrietta. She is a smaller standard girl, just under 1 year old and lays medium sized brown eggs about 4 a week.

We also just found out that the 2 chicks we hatched 2 months ago are both boys. They are Easter Eggers and will be beautiful boys. They are 3rd generation blue/green egg layers. Original EE hens from Hinkjc, second generation from a Peachick Wheaten Ameraucana Roo. The boys are third generation by a Gary Ramey blue wheaten Ameraucana roo. The hens are just gorgeous and very sweet, and great layers. The eggs they came from were a medium blue and the hens from these boys will lay lots of good sized eggs.

Hope someone can take these 2 boys born March 23rd since we can't have roos.

LOL Janice!
He is a beautiful boy, huh?!
He came form a very good breeder, who has some of the most gorgeous Brahmas around.....o yea- that breeder is you!

Ok, tomorrow's the swap / tack re-sell it day! Hope we have a good turnout! PLEASE remember if you are coming with your birds or tack to sell, bring yourself some sort of shade (tarp, tent, etc) because it is hot as heck out there, and the pasture is open and sunny...see you all tomorrow!!!

Alpha Chick - would you be interested in my Blue Plymouth Rock? She's a pretty girl, but has never been friendly to people (full disclosure) but is not aggessive toward the rest of the flock. She's pretty much the bottom of the pecking order. Let me know. I'll stop by for a bit, but not until later. We have GOT to make progress on the shade cloth on the aviary before I go anywhere!

Bring a pair of the brownish red pigeons if you have one to sell - a breeding pair.
And ask your Dad if one of the males he sold us - the bigger one with a red band (I think) and Madison, the one with the mostly white head (also a red band) came home to you guys. They got out a few weeks after the swap, and Madison always came back but I think the male was chasing her and might have chased her home to you guys.

Sounds like she would be a good mix with our girls. I guess our questions would be, how loud is she? We have one loud mouth and are trying to keep the flock as quiet as possible. How old is she? It would see that she is laying but just wanted to check.

We will be there but if we are lucky and the 3 we are bringing go quickly, we will probably head home, which is about 10 blocks away. If you are going to bring your girl, let me know and I can give you our phone number in case we are gone when you get there. Thanks for thinking of us.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to those that showed up...not the best day for a swap, as it was sweltering out there...(and I apologize for my absence during the beginning of it)...that being said, it was really nice to meet you guys and sit around and chat for a bit! The birds you guys brought were beautiful! Maybe we can all get together like discussed later this year when it's a bit cooler, and I'm not lazy and actually advertise it a bit more...oh, and if it's just a "chicken thing" and not a horse thing too...derr...lesson learned!
