My cayuga is on day 31. Pipped near the top. Making progress ( kind of) but something seems off like it is not able to turn around and zip. Cayuga has beem pipped now for around 38 to 40 hours. I see its little bill going up and down as it is breathing. When should i go in to help?

I put a little coconut oil on it with a qtip. It appeared to be? But i am not 100% certain. It didnt look the same as my mallard that hatched two days ago so I was assuming it was dry? The color was off white then white in some spots and starting to turn yellow so i applied coconut oil in at that point. I am hoping i did the right thing.

yes, that’s good (for putting the oil) have u heard him peep?

When my little chick was trying for too long I saw a video on YouTube and the guy just peeled the egg around because he says they get tired and that could be all, due to incubation conditions. There was absolutely zero blood so I just let him out at the top. If there had been I’d have stopped and put it back in. He’s now an awesome little cockerel. Anyway I would do it again if at this point
