Pipping confusion

Yeah, that's kind of what I did last night. I put a piece of hardware cloth in the brooder to divide it. Eggwyn slept squished up against the divider next to the other two. Hopefully he calms down once the others get a little more energy. The only time Eggwyn really seems to calm down is when he's on my husband's chest or shoulder snuggled under his beard. Maybe I need a faux beard in the brooder!

I guess Eggwyn was just trying to get Prudence and Desmond to play with him. I gave them a couple drops of poultry drench in their water and a little while later they seemed to have a bit more pep. All three were zooming around the brooder like dust bunnies in the breeze.

I woke up to find another wrong way pipper. This guy is pretty far up towards the small end of the egg. He's peeping loudly though and I don't see any blood so I'm guessing he did a good job of missing any big blood vessels.

I'll definitely keep a closer eye on him! I had another odd egg last night. One of the two that popped yesterday morning. It hadn't made much progress so I used my flashlight to peek in the air cell. I was really confused because the air cell looked very full and a good portion of the egg looked empty. I panicked a bit and took a bit of shell off around where he had pipped in the air cell. The air cell was completely full of duckling! The egg had appeared normal when I checked it earlier. Nice, normal looking air cell. I guess he pipped a big hole internally and fell into the air cell? There wasn't much membrane showing since he had fallen through the internal membrane into the air cell, so I put some coconut oil around the edges and put him back in the incubator for the night. When I got up this morning he was peeping VERY loudly...and waving at me. His bill was out a little last night, normal peeping and yawning movements. He managed to pull his head back overnight and stuck his wing out. I don't know. All I know is he was peeping and waving at me like "Hey! Can I get a little help here?! I think I'm stuck!" Once I freed his wing he kicked his way out of the shell.

My wrong end duckling hatched this evening. He ended up needing a little help. The membrane seemed extra tough or something, and was holding his head/bottom half in the shell. I didn't want to help him and have him come out before his yolk was absorbed but I didn't see any veins after swabbing with coconut oil and he was letting out those "OUCH" peeps that I sometimes hear when the ducklings are playing a little too wild in the brooder.
I think his yolk was all absorbed, the "gunk" left in his shell looked like normal leftover gunk, but his belly wasn't completely closed. I'm not terribly worried about that. It wasn't a big opening, definitely smaller than pea size. It pretty much looks like a baby's umbilical cord scab now. Kind of.
I am worried/concerned about his foot and/or leg though. His right leg looks...odd but I'm not completely sure what's wrong since he's still very sleepy and floppy. I think maybe the leg looks twisted or curled? He can move the leg and I think he moves his toes, but I think the foot might be slightly turned inward if that makes sense. I tried looking at the poultry podiatry site, but I'm not sure I know what to look for. Maybe if he's stronger in the morning it'll be easier to manipulate his leg? I tried getting some pictures in case someone can help tell me what to look at/for and if there's anything I can do to help him without making things worse. I'm not sure if the angles of these pictures help though. KIMG1856.JPG KIMG1854.JPG

Does the leg stay forward and straight? Check out this thread and let me know if it looks like the same problem. If it is, I think I found a way to fix it.
