I can go without seeing "natural" manatees on my cruise....LOL! Just want to relax and have some fun! I would like to do an excursion as well. They can be pricey though from what I have read. Everything is a la carte. Guess you have to shop around a bit and book something the day of your excursion instead through the ship.

Are shows and stuff included on the ship?

Yup, shows included. They are usually pretty good too. Last time I went in a Carnival boat they had just started their comedy at sea club. They had some great comedians on four nights of they seven days cruise.

I don't think anybody has mentioned the food yet. It is awesome. And you can eat all you want. Not just at the buffet, at all of restaurants. If you get the menu and can't decide which entree you want, no worries, order both. I pretty sure I've gained at least five pounds in each cruise. I quickly lose it when I get home and can no longer eat 24/7.

when I was a teenager my parents saved up for years so we could go on two cruises. We went on carnival cruises and loved them. The ships were gaudily decorated though.

the gratuities are included in the price. there are a lot of free activities on board. the meals are very good.

You will have to pay for any alcoholic beverages though. The excursions off the ship are usually very expensive.

if you're adventurous then I recommend getting off the beaten path. you'll find many more unique souviniers and meet interesting people if you venture from the touristy area. The only thing is you need to be careful and go with a group of people.

also arrive very early! You have to go through a lot of checks before you get on. also understand the laws and safety on the islands are not the same as here.be very careful on the activities you pick. if you get hurt because of someone else's negligence you may not have any recourse and if you end up in the hospital there you may not be able to get home easily since the boat will leave you.

We made the 5 day cruise out of New Orleans May 30th. Couple stops in Mexico, Progresso and Cozumel. Carnival Triumph.

5 of us traveling on my dime. My wife and I, grown 30 year old daughter and 6 year old grand daughter, and 34 year old son.

Arrive early and bring an extra helping of patience, without a doubt you will be in line having all your correct paper work waiting behind some idiot who left everything at home.

CROWDED CROWDED CROWDED NOISE NOISE NOISE LINES WAIT more LINES WAIT WAIT WAIT

Food, while it tasted good I did get the feeling of passing through a fed lot. Dinner was the exception, we had the best waiter I have ever had bar none.

Pool out of service-- some kid chucked up in it

Water slide out of service-- same kid chucked up.

Had the "Drink of The Day" once everyday $7.50 - $10 each

Excursions - if you go on the five day and stop in Progresso save your money stay on the boat, if you plan a spa day schedule it for the day the ship is in Progresso. Big discount at the spa. Swim with the dolphins in Cozumel, pretty good.

Health club/exercize steam room busted out of service, sauna busted out of service

A/C in cabin didn't work very well. Blew cold air but only a whisper of cold air. Like hold your hand in front of the vent and you would feel a slight breeze, not a flow of air. When I reported to the cabin steward he showed up, removed the defusser allowing what little air their was to blow straight down on to the bed, then he put a thermometer directly in airstream, turned to me and in an Idonesian accent said "air work good". Turned around walked out the room and that was it for that day. Next day same story only a big russian woman. Next day and the next day until we got back off the boat in NO. No matter who I complain to, the proceedure was always the same. Funny thing is every morning they'd call and ask "Mr 29 we see that you had a problem with the A/C has it been resolved?" I'd say no it hasn't, the little guy from Bali, or the big girl from Russia would show up, and it would start all over again. Incidently the A/C in my daughter's cabin was so cold and had so much volume that they froze.

My idea of a fun time is not being cooped up on a 900 foot long anything with 3500 other people, made my first and last cruise.

For the same money, or less we could have went to a destination all enclusive resort for a week.

Yes! People were hauling tons of water on board. Bottled water was very expensive.

Hand sanitizer, don't bother bringing any they have hand cleaning stations everywhere in hall ways, elevator exits, stairway landings, dinning rooms bars casino, out on deck its everywhere.

Wrong! In rough weather avoid the extreme forward and rear, and upper decks, low down in the middle of the ship is the best. Picture a plank of wood on a pivot, the part that is on the pivot doesn't move nearly as much or as fast as the tip of the plank.

Water on board is as pure or maybe even purer than what is at your home.

One more thing.

I said this was my first cruise and it was but I have been in boats both big and small my whole life. Crew boats, supply ships, offshore charter vessels, tankers and tugs.

seasickness----

Non drowssy dramamene(sp) and Tagamet.

or

go to the Dr prior to cruise and get the scopolomine patch it will make you sleepy however.

I went on one cruise with royal carribean
...it started off terrible as they had to repair a rudder as soon as they came into our starting port. We spent the first 2 days sitting in our home port while they repaired that and did decor upgrades to the staterooms during that time (replacing our carpets in the rooms), etc. When we finally left port, 1/2 of the people had cancelled so they upgraded our rooms and gave us $200 on ship credits to make it up to us. We didnt have enough time to get to our original destination (bermuda) so they were going to take us to Bahamas instead. Another day into the trip, there was a hurricane in the bahamas so we couldnt go there. We floated around in the ocean for 6 days and went nowhere!!!

Other than that, it was still great. The food was excellent and you can order as much as you want (literally one night i ordered 4 dinners because i didnt know what i wanted). The staff was very friendly and please make sure to tip becuse their pay is aweful!! The ship in itself is like a city so there is plenty to do - there are shows and a movie theathre, etc. The onboard spa is a must...between a massage and the ocean rocking the ship, i fell asleep. Speaking of movement, take motion sickness pills...especially in your case later in the year, the ocean gets rough.

I would avoid Carnivals (Inspiration), it is a very old ship and has not been updated, we called it (Perspiration) as that among other nasty things, is what it smelled like. At anyone given time half of the pools were closed causing the others to be super crowded. I would highly recommend going with another line, especially if this is your first one.

Wow, alot of good feedback and stories! Hearing the good and the bad, make the expectation of the cruise alot more realistic. I greatly appreciate it! It's important to hear real experiences instead of just reading the cruise line website of all the wonderful things they offer which I'm sure the cruise will be great! Sounds like it can be hit and miss with everything working properly on the ship...pool etc. Overall, it sounds like a good time! We want to experience a cruise at least once. I will post our feedback after we go.

Keep the stories and feedback coming.....THANKS! Oh...another question.....do they supply towels, etc in your rooms like a hotel? Is it noisy at night when you try to sleep?
