I really don't know if I would be able to eat that!

It's still cool here, so our stuff is mostly still starting! We've only had a few days over 70 degrees yet this year, which promises to be good for our peas and broccoli, so I'm not complaining!

These pics were taken on the 6th, and it was raining while I took them. I love Oregon. XD

4x6-raised-bed.jpg

Our 4'x6' raised bed, which we built soon after we moved in. This year it has peas, broccoli, garlic, and spinach. Not nearly enough peas! Never enough. Hehe.

4x10raisedbed.jpg

Our new 4'x10' raised bed. It has bell peppers (red, orange, purple and green... I think....), tomatoes, cilantro, dill, basil (plus now purple basil, added since this pic was taken), slicing cucumber, yellow squash, scallions, and... probably some other stuff I don't remember.

We also have lettuce planted in a container.

bog-garden.jpg

My carnivorous plant bog garden. I have a ton of carnivorous plants -- Venus fly traps, Sarracenia (temperate) pitcher plants, sundews, butterworts, and tropical pitchers. This mixed planting has a Venus Flytrap (Dionaea muscipula), Alabama Sweet Pitchers (Sarracenia rubra ssp. alabamanensis), Hooded Pitchers (S. minor), Judith Hindle Hybrid (S. purpurea x leucophylla x flava) and White Topped Pitchers (S. leucophylla). By the end of the summer it will be overgrown and lush!

Our kitty Chainsaw watching from among the tropical carnivorous plants while I take photos in the rain. Hehe.

golden-oregano-blueberry-english-thyme-blueberry.jpg

Part of our herb garden. Obviously we have a mud problem. Ha ha. Our soil is... clay. Pure clay. This is golden oregano, English thyme, and two blueberry bushes.

lavendar-and-sage.jpg

Lavender in a pot, and some sage. We also have rosemary and marjoram though I don't have pictures. The sage and rosemary is pruned ruthlessly each year. XD

(Edited to fix some BBCode.)

* Our gardens are growing great, we've been pulling weeds for hours everyday. I think I need to do some before and after pics.

We just spent the last two mornings weeding. Now, I need to fertilize.
I've made some room to transplant some okra seedlings.

My green beans and lima beans are not doing that well this year. EVERYTHING else is rocking, but not the beans and lima beans.
I don't know why . . . . . I'm thinking that our above normal 90 plus degree temps is responsible for it.

My corn is great, the cucumbers and squash keep coming and the tomatoes are better this year than last year.
My watermelon and cantaloupe are looking great. The okra is 2 - 3 feet tall.

What could be wrong with those dang green beans and lima beans ? ? I had bumper crops of green beans last year and barely enough for a couple of dinners this year : (

Love seeing and reading everyone's updates!! Our gardens are going great, and I've done major work on my flower gardens!! We had an overgrown patch behind my parent's house that I've cleared out and planted sunflowers.

...however, someone MOWED OVER MY PUMPKIN HILL.

Do you think they will grow back? They weren't dug up...they are just really short now....and trampled.

Its REALLY hot here too... wish it would rain, for the gardens sake

I have got to get out there and weed for acouple of days, I did weed for 45 mins. the other night, then I rubbed my stinking face/eyes... and one of the weeds broke me out! My eyelids and face are swollen and ITCHY! Sucks.

Other that that the gardens are doing really good! We should be picking some squash, zucchini, peppers, cucumbers within the week.

I planted the lima beans - that aren't growing - because they were suppose to be a summer crop that could take our heat in Florida.
When they weren't doing good - - I googled them and discovered that they won't set beans once the temps go in the 90s. Well, duh we have been in the 90s for a month now.

I am hoping for better results with the okra. I hope they can take our high 90's and low 100's summer heat.

Sorry about your harvest coyote magic. It is extremely frustrating to put time and effort into our gardens and then have mother nature best us.

Next on my schedule is hooking up some irrigation for our Blueberries. Hand watering them stinks. I think that is part of the problem with my blueberry plants - - - I need to get some consistency on the watering for them. They are an awful lot of work with little return so far. We have been trying to get a patch of them growing for 5 years now.

Here's an update on my little garden:

Today (June 23rd):
4x10.jpg

We just cut down a whole colander full of cilantro yesterday and made guacamole and salsa. Nom nom nom! It was towering, so we just chopped most of it off. Ha.

Our yard is small, so I'm trying to make the best of it!

We've actually had the opposite of most of you; unseasonably cool and rainy weather. I certainly wasn't complaining. It's done wonders for my peas, broccoli and lettuce. My cucumber isn't doing very well this year, though, and the peppers and tomatoes could do with some warmer weather! Also, everything is slow and behind.

And OMG the weeds! They're flourishing!! Usually they're at least somewhat dried out for the year by July. Ha.

Today was actually the first day this year we reached 80 degrees. Whew, it felt so hot, because yesterday the temperature was 60. I didn't have time to get used to it.

math ace: We've had trouble with ours as well. I do think a great deal of our problem was inconsistent irrigation. We checked the soil's pH and everything. Hopefully this is the year we both start getting a bumper crop.
