Hello! We've got some new coturnix quail chicks hatching today and I dont have the usual shredded paper for their brooder. For days 1-3 I'm going to use paper towels but would it later be safe to use playsand as the floor or would they eat it? If playsand wont work could some other type of sand work? Any suggestions for flooring would work for me! Thanks!

If playsand wont work will pavers sand or woodchips do the job?

I wouldn't use playsand, because they might swallow too much and impact their digestive system. I use towels until my chicks are a little bigger, and then switch to pine shavings.
