Remember America is not a country but a land mass broken up in to about 30(im not counting them) country's. So we have the the diversity of the Canadian north with small towns useing dogsled an Icetrucks to the hot fields of southern Mexico an everything in between. An thats just north america. South america is just as big an diverse.
As for the United States, well we should be looked at as 50 country's joined by a common defensive plan. Every state is dramatically different.
I live in what is called "The Independent State of Dade". We were a small independent country from the 1860s till the 1940s. We refused to rejoin the the US an the State of Georgia after the Civil war. We rejoined for the world wars.
To our north is Tennessee, to our west is Alabama an to our east is Georgia. Technically we are now part of Georgia again but we are separated by a mountain that makes Tennessee an Alabama more useful to us. We have 2 mountains an a valley with our city in it. The valley funnels us to Chattanooga to the north an Alabama to the south. I live on the northern mountain. Its a 5 minute walk to Alabama an a 5 minute drive to Tennessee from my house.
Atlanta's first interest in us that I know of was in the last few years that they have had a water shortage. They want the water from the Tennessee river that we border. It did not help our unity with the state an the US when they printed the state quarter with a map of Georgia that had us removed.
I guess the best way to describe where I live is to tell you to go watch the old TV show "Dukes of Hazzard". That show played out very close to being true to life here. The Weldon's(my family name) being one of the family's on the outs with the "Law." Less so the last few years.
You could also watch the movie "The Nights the Lights Went Out in Georgia". The first few scenes are in Chattanooga Tennessee then there is a bar fight scene in a bar in Jasper Tennessee. That bar my friend use to own. After that Everything is filmed in our small part of the world. An other than this being a dry county the movie plays out very real here. Again a little less so the last few years.
I have lived here my whole life an even tho I love to travel I plan to die here.
