Please Help/advice-found my girl hanging upside down, think her leg is broken

Thanks for the clarification. At what point would I need to find a way of weighing Red? My scales wont work for her. AT this time she is talking and still getting up & drinking her water.

Buy yourself a digital kitchen scale, I got mine from Target for about $20. Once you have it, find a box that she'll fit in, put the empty box on the scale, zero the scale and then put her in the box. I weigh mine in grams, it's much easier to track losses and gains that way.

Glad to hear she's doing ok still, yep mine I think had a broken ankle or a bone in that region.
She wants to try to stand more now like when she's eating. Her take offs and landings are a bit hit and miss but she'll get there lol
Is her leg less red and hot now ?
I mix the yoghurt into favourite foods. Pudding loves cat food and sausage rolls so I pop a few oats in a bowl a bit of cat food and a bit if yoghurt :) (be careful of salt contents in things)
I've heard chopped liver is very good too for protein and vits.

Sounds like Red is a lucky chicken to have you :)

Haven't gotten over to grab a different scale, will this weekend. I have her off the antibiotic as it has been 7 days and the swelling seems to be gone down and foot feels same as good one. She still has some red color on the sides of her leg but the blood blisters that were between her toes are dried dried up. The last two days she has put her head in the corner and will not drink or eat.

So I am thinking maybe she is depressed or throwing a temper tantrum. So I get my hubby to help me drag the dog kennel outside in the fresh air and sunshine so she can visit with her sissy's. She starts talking up a storm and her fav sissy Rocky, comes over to comfort her ( she has been in rehab twice). She immediately starts eating grass. So I throw some of the same food stuff down as when she was inside. And she starts eating way! The little crapper! So she had two good days but now we are expecting snow. So I am back to trying to get her to eat and drink inside. I did add a handful of grass and some grit. I have some chicken (????) liver in freezer and will try that. Tried the plain yogurt mixed with her treats a few days ago and she wouldn't try to sort it out. She won't touch treats with the yogurt.!

I am loosing patience. I guess I may have to think about the tube feeding thing. How does one go about that? Thanks, will check back tomorrow. P.S Yours are lucky to have you too.

Kathy is the tube feeding expert here.I've never had to do it but I would try if I needed to.
My understanding is that feeding is quick ( once you get the hang of it) and at least you know what they've had exactly.
It will probably take seconds to feed her rather than 30 mins and then worrying as you're not sure how much she took.
It might buy her the time she needs to heal.

If my bird wasn't eating and drinking I would do it.

So I checked out the tube feeding site. Have to say it made me very anxious. Since yesterday, I connected a few things about outside vs inside. Not only was she missing her flock but how she naturally forges and eats out doors. So I parted the pine shavings and threw grains, grit, worms, kale, cabbage, and added cooked chicken liver. She pecked at all and ate a substantial amount. Hubby got her to drink some water w/ electrolytes but wii keep close eye on how much is is consuming. Thanks all, I will keep posted.

I am not sure if you asked or this was answered but you need to leave the splint on for 4-6 weeks and keep checking to make sure it isn't chafing.

Yes I was told it can take six or so. I am keeping it on her but was not sure if I should mess with unwrapping to check. She pulls away when we are looking at it. But I suppose I should check for sores.
