Please help. Another chicken is sick!

Aww, hun, I'm sorry... you just don't get a break do you?

Any chance you can show us a side-view of your girl?

Separate her so that you can see what her poopies look like, and make sure she has fresh food and water, maybe add a little heat if it's chilly. She will appreciate the "alone time", too, if she's feeling pooky.
After you've had a chance to observe her on her own, let us know what her poopies look like, if she's eating or drinking, sneezing, etc. Does she just huddle by herself, tail down, feathers fluffed up with her head scrunched down? Is her crop full? If so, is is soft & squishy, or can you feel the food in there? Is her face pale? Any discharges?
Best to separate her in case it IS something contagious.
I'll check back with you later.

Very interesting. I did not know there was a difference it the type of feed. Hmmmmm.

Ms. AK-Birdbrain ..... I'll try to get the pictures this morning! She is just sitting there again today.

This is so frustrating.

Thank goodness none of the others look bad ..... yet.

Okay, the poop is very watery and has some blood in it. The first chicken did not have watery poop as far as I knew. Sounds bad! She sits there with her head tucked into her body.

Give me suggestions. With all of my medical bills lately, I hate to take her to a vet...that is if I could find a vet that deals with chickens!

Sometimes it seems the world is plotting.....

Could this be cocci?

Yes... sounds like it could be.
The bloody poop, and the scrunched head really sounds like it. Cocci is in the soil everywhere, and is especially bad in damp times. I just recently lost two 7 week old birds to it, but I now have the Amprolium and Sulmet to combat it if it pops up again. Does she look like this?

I've been told to give them a dose of Amprolium (other name Corid) and then follow up with Sulmet in their water. Decrease the protein (no treats like egg/yogurt) and only electrolytes (no baby vits, as it can counteract the meds). The Sulmet can be harsh on their systems, but if that is all you have then give them 2 tbsp in 1 gallon of water.

Here's another thread that talks about it...

That's coccisiosis. Sulmet alone should take care of it. Get it to them as fast as you can. Cocci kill quickly. Make sure they stay hydrated.

Yes! She looks just like that. I assume it is really contagious. Should I treat all of the chickens?

That's what I did. I quickly cleaned out all their litter with fresh, separated out the ones that were doing the worst and put them on wire. I spiked the water with Sulmet for all of the other birds that were in there with them just to be sure. The Sulmet doesn't always do the trick, since I lost two anyway, but if you catch it in time it can. Most of the birds bounced back the next day, but there were a couple that were too far gone. My birds had never been outside, but it is possible that I tracked it in, and then waited too long to clean their pen. If you can put her on wire to keep her out of the poopies, it will help. Keep her warm, make sure she's drinking and staying hydrated, and hopefully you have caught it in time.

Well, chicken number 2 died. So far I do not see any other sick .... yet. I began treating with Sulmet yesterday. I guess it was too late for the chicken. I am treating the others too just to be safe.

This has been aweful. We have not named any of the them because we wanted to give away several of them....can't keep roosters. It will be easier on the kids if the chickens don't have names until we have the 8 (actually 9 including my daughter's silkie) we are going to keep. Everyone gets their own chicken...even me!
