I had a duck with a prolapsed dinger. It wasn’t as swollen, but it was hard and black from being out so long. I rescued him that way. Anyways, I put manuka honey on it....was told it could just be neosporin from a vet tech friend..anyways... I had him rest in a cage. after the honey softened it up for a long time, I had to massage it back in to place. It regained its color. He made a full recovery...if something like this should ever happen again...hopefully not...you might want to try that before cutting anything...I’m glad your duckie is doing better!!

I am glad your duck got better! Keep in mind that it the tissue is dead or dying that *not* cutting it off could be life threatening, especially if one doesn't have proper antibiotics on hand.

There have been several threads where people tried like you did and their ducks died. Had those people amputated the penis instead of trying to re-insert a necrotic one, those ducks almost certainly would have lived.
