My quails are so picking at each other that I don't know what to do anymore. Is there any homemade essential oil spray that I can make at home to stop them from behaving this way. Any advice from anybody would be very appreciated.

Make them some little hiding houses out of boxes so they can get away from each other. It will also relieve boredom. Also, you can distract them with some fruit or greens. Don't put the food and water in a corner where one will decide it is their private territory.

My quail hens behaved terribly to each other just before they started laying and then calmed down once they were laying.

Thank you for advice, they were fine before, but one started laying a day ago, so I think that she has been really angry at everybody ;)
I am trying everything and I hope it works, because they don't have any feathers of their back anymore (I adopted them like that already) I just want to make them happy and healthy ...

There is only one male to 8 females, but I saw that some females are chasing other birds and getting their feathers. I am trying anything to stop this. Could it be that I should have more males in there? Or maybe because they already have bare backs thats why they still continue to pick at each other?

Any new bird you add, will be beaten badly, so dont add any birds.... Your birds are feeling stressed. It's likely a hen is try'n become the dominate bird in the pen. once the "pecking order" is worked out, it will end. But you cant do much except remove the "bad birds". But when you do this the next one in line will step up and become the dominate bird and start all over again.

My advice would be ride it out. Its not easy to let them work it out thou. Every change you make just prolongs the mayhem.... get some "Blu Kote" if you dont have any. Any bird that gets injured, Blu Kote it. Its amazing stuff and it has more than just healing properties. Once applied, the wound is dark purple. It takes focus off the bloody spot so it no longer attracts the attention of the others. If you keep game birds or chickens, it should be in your med kit! Good Luck, Bill
