Thanks Everyone,
I will clean the head again and hopefully get it draining, The vets in our area aren't cheap, so that's not really an option... she is not a very nice cat at all and would probably rip me to shreds if I tried too give her a bath, but I'll get her wrapped in a towel again and give her some antibiotics, I actually have this really great cream that came from the vet a little while back and I have used it on the chickens numerous times, I'll try it on her.
thanks everyone,

( I make sure to fix all of my cats, I find in very irresponsible when people don't)
Sorry, I didn't read all the replies. I have a cat who has gotten abscesses from bite wounds. You need to clean around the wound, cut the fur if you need to. I don't recommend using peroxide after the first cleaning, it will also kill living cells as well as germs. If you can see the wound and get the scab off them you can try to drain it. Sometimes you have to give it a good squeeze. There was one abscess on my cat I couldn't get to drain, I used heat on it for as long as he would let me. I actually use the hot hands warmers, they worked great. I did this multiple times a day, for at least ten minutes at a time. The abscess was gone in a couple of days this way. If you have antibiotics on hand they will help, just make sure to get the proper dose on them.
make sure you check all medications for whether or not they're okay for cats. a lot of them aren't. blu-kote (a common chicken treatment) for example, says right on the bottle to not use it on cats.
as a side note, was the cat UTD on her rabies shot? for your own safety, this is important.
i understand that vets aren't cheap but something like this, especially on an uncooperative cat, just sounds like a bad idea to home treat =/ some cats are able to bounce back, others... don't. i wish you well though.
Thanks everybody,
I cleaned her up and found an abscess on her head, I drained a lot of puss out of it and I plan on doing the same thing again in a few hours. I clipped a little bit of her fur back and got all the dreid puss off of her head. There is a nice scab, should I remove it? I don't plan on useing peroxide again because of the whole cell damaging thing, However once i have drained the abscess again I will put some antibiotics on it.
thanks for all of your replies,

(she has had her rabies shot)
I'd leave the scab and let it continue to heal. The blood forms scabs while underneath the skin cells regenerate, so if you remove the scab, the new skin is exposed before it is ready and it won't heal well. Clean the scab gently and just leave it there, and put the antibiotic on top.
Quote:
When my cat Yoshi had the hole in his face from the roo talon, and it was still pussing the vet told us to remove any scabs that formed UNTIL it stopped draining. If you leave the scab while it still wants to puss then the scab will hold the bacteria and infection inside the body, which can lead to spreading. Once there was no longer any puss and muscousy blood then it was ok to let a scab form.

Very true... I didn't think about how it still has pus.
Just thought I would post this:
I managed to clean her up very well and now she has completly healed and has started growing back furr where the wound was. thanks all!
