Please help! Do I need to put coconut oil on pip?

Pics
It's for them to lay on or it can be attached to the side on the wall. I was thinking they could walk on and lay on it and have the plate over it. Maybe it'd be better to mount it on the wall and then have the heat plate in front of it so anyone that is super cold can get close to the back and benefit from both heat sources and those that don't need so much heat can move to the front (higher end) of the plate. What do you think?

That's a good idea. Do you already have this or are you going to buy it? I would do the putting it on the back wall thing and then putting the plate in front.

It says on the box that it won't feel very warm so I would put really lightweight things on it for a few hours and then feel to check warmth. Everything I have tested has been warm and I do feel warmth coming from it when nothing is touching it. I suppose that it just means that you won't feel the complete amount of heat by just touching it

That makes sense. Have any of your babies hatched yet?
I think the plate and the mat will be sufficient.

Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the chicks (like I said I would) last night. I was trying to get everything done as quickly as possible since my daughter is back in school. We'll, not actually "in" school but I needed to get her ready for bed asap and look over everything she worked on yesterday and make sure she knew how to turn everything in, etc. She's doing the virtual school. She meets with her class every morning at 9am on Google Meet. That's not super early but I want her to get up early enough to be able to get ready, eat breakfast, and go over everything before the morning meeting. Today was the second day, but it's an adjustment keeping up with time and getting her into bed by a certain time. I plan on getting pictures today, I promise :)

One of the Swedish Black's has externally pipped. I'm trying to get the humidity up and having trouble. Going to try another Sponge. I did heat the water I'm adding for faster results. I'm not sure when it pipped because it's on the narrow end. Everything has went as planned with these egg. Stopped turning on Day 17, but I still have a pip on the wrong end. Now I'm worried about it shrink wrapping the chick. Today is Day 20

I wish I'd been checking them way more often today. I've only checked on them 3 times today and of course I missed the external pip and it's yellowed already. Humidity is at 64%. Working hard to raise it on up. Any thoughts? Anything I should do, other than get humidity to 70% and just keep an eye on it? I should probably remove the turner, right? I hate the chicks rolling the eggs around after they hatch but I do not want injured legs because of the turner

Yeah, it looks dry. Its ok. This happens all the time. Most people have lived and can't just watch the incubator all day, lol. I am a big fan of the misting thing. Open the incubator and mist everything with warm/hot water. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but are you using filtered water? Tap water has too much salt in it. It actually dries out faster and can corrode the heating element.
