Please help! Do I need to put coconut oil on pip?

I should also add that have only incubated bantam eggs so far, the eggs being delivered tomorrow are LF (Spitzhauben). I am a sucker for crested breeds! They're coming from MO. I thought TX but I am incubating some other eggs from TX. The ones being delivered tomorrow are Spitzhauben from MO

Edited to add: isn't that funny that I answered your question before I even read your post!?!?

I do rotate but in all honesty, I haven't always done this. I just started about 2 weeks ago.
Do I need to let the eggs rest for 24 hours or just go ahead and place them in the incubator? These eggs are coming from TX & we're delivered on Thursday
I only ever do 6-8 hours. I do like to warm them up very gradually to avoid sweating, but I personally think 24 hours is too long amd unnecessary. I don't even worry about air cells usually. If they're really badly detached, then maybe. I've never had any detached ones though.

@MGG i wish I could express how grateful I am for your help & all of the time you've shared with me. I have a few folks on here that I am forever grateful for and you are on that list too. If there is anything I can ever do for you, please let me know. I can't thank you enough. Honestly I feel so blessed to have your help. I am in awe of your generosity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I have a phenomenal post office team but I am beginning to wonder about the distribution center that everything I receive goes through. I've considered trying to find someone who receives mail from another center and having eggs sent there, just to see if there is a difference.
Unfortunately I don't believe any eggs from my flock are fertile. I have WAY too many cockerels/roosters and until I can get that resolved, I can't put my pullets and hens through that. I do believe I am getting some fertile duck eggs. Would it be comparable to try hatching them out?

I'm so thankful to be a part of this community. I really love helping others. I'm incredibly honored to be on your list. Thank you! This is such a special place. I've only been on here a few months, and I was worried at first that I wouldn't be accepted. Now I feel like this is the only place I can be viewed as "normal". Lol. I love that everyone here loves the birds as much as I do. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. :hugs

I've heard bantys are more fragile, maybe that's part of your problem? Oooh! Spitzs are sooo gorgeous!
I LOVE them so much! I have Brabanter's being shipped to me soon as well. I adore a crested bird! I should add that I absolutely love noncrested too! You'd think that I'd have polish, but I don't........... yet, hahaha! Maybe once I start getting better hatches, I'll stop ordering so many eggs! I am going to check on the little egg and attempt to assist if it's still not out. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you again. I sincerely appreciate you so so much

You could try with the ducks. Maybe out one of your hens with one of the roosters, and let him breed her just a couple times. The next day, let him do it again. Then wait 4 days ans start collecting her eggs. They should be fertile. If you do it, pick one or two hens you can easily recognize the eggs of. This way your hens won't be constantly bred, but will still be fertile. I'm not sure if the ducks would be completely the same. It would be best to use chickens. Does anyone local have fertile eggs you could use?

Brabanters! :drool
I love crested birds too. They're so cool. I think Hamburgs are really pretty too. And D'uccles, lol. I hope you start getting much better hatch rates soon. Let me know how the assist goes. If it isn't ready (yawning, chewing, or any blood) stop and put it back for a while. Don't rush the little one. Good luck! I'm going to take care of the chickens, I'll be back soon.
