I think hatcheries make it confusing because sometimes they label birds as Production Red Sex Link. There are actually Production Reds that are a Rhode Island Red x New Hampshire cross. If you have a flock of Production Reds and they will actually breed true. Sometimes they also label Rhode Island Reds as Production Rhode Island Reds, you know just to make it even more confusing...

I find it very honest of Cackle to label their Production Reds as...just that, Production Reds. Most hatcheries sell PRs as "RIR," which is a bit misleading. It's all so confusing!

Yes! I find it disappointing that businesses who sell their birds under the correct title are so rare.
