hi, my mom told me that as a hatchling their eye got pecked by a chicken accidentally, however it was only one eye and for a while the other eye was fine. However, now both eyes have shut. I don’t know why or what to do, I’ve been gently wiping at the eyes with micellar water on a q tip, but I don’t know if I should be using micellar water or if it’s even beneficial. I was scared to use tap water. His butt had poop buildup but I have just cleaned it. He’s also smaller than the other duckling that look like him despite being hatched at the same time. I don’t know if he’s just a different breed or if he’s actually just weak like that. He also constantly is quacking. I’m pretty sure the lil guy is stressed. I made a little thing for him where I made a little bed with a towel and a box, and then placed it inside a bigger box with a lid I can slide open over a wax warmer for warmth. I also put a tshirt over it for darkness. He’s not constantly quacking anymore, but I’m paranoid because I am not sure if he’s dying or just relaxed for once. I watched a duckling die in my hands out of nowhere the other day and it was traumatizing watching it stop moving and feeling his heart beat go away, and then feeling their body get cold and stiff. My mom thinks this duckling is a lost cause but I don’t want to just let them die. Please help :(

Is the duckling eating or drinking? If so, what are you feeding it? Is the box heated?
Yes, they’re still eating and drinking. My mom has been feeding all the ducklings this food. It can’t see so I have to gently push his head where the food or water is and then he starts going at it for a bit. He’s not eating as much as the others, though. Yes the box is heated. I have it over a wax warmer and readjusted the towel for better heat distribution. I noticed that there’s no poop, though. My other ducklings poop a lot and it wouldn’t be clean like this.

I just actually removed the iPhone box and spread the towel on the bigger box instead. I don’t want him to fall. I also just watched as it tried to poop. Nothing came out, just a weird wet sound and saw a little bubble. I took pictures of it here

I'm new, so I can only pass on what I've read. Chicks need to be kept warm, like they would get from Mama, 90°. Also, try to get some medicated additive:

Also for the injured eye; https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/pfizer-terramycin-opthalmic-ointment-1-8-oz?cm_vc=-10005

Forgive me the feed she’s actually feeding is this. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be raising ducks but it kind of just got thrown at me. These ducks are a day away from being a week old and I didn’t have time to prepare

I'm so sorry for your loss. Maybe @Miss Lydia or @Quatie can help shine some light on what may have been going on.
Try not to beat yourself up, you did everything you knew to do and more. Most people wouldn't even do the research, rather say, "survival of the fittest" and not even try. You did so much for this duckling, and next time you will be able to do even more any others you have issues with. Its happened to me time and time again. We learn from these experiences as unfortunate as it is. Sending hugs, remember, this was not your fault, you did everything you knew how to do. I hope you feel better soon. :hugs
