Please help! It's day 27 with no movement or internal pip from the duckling, what should I do?!

Pics
Oh ok thank you - I didn't remove it but it came off because he stepped on it (left it in there though) but he doesn't look like he's bleeding and is peeping a lot
that's okay! Not much could be done about that. It doesn't really look like how an unabsorbed yolk sac would look. And I've seen other chicks hatch out looking similar. My guess is that it's the remainder of it, looks like the inside of the yolk was absorbed and it dropped off. He sounds just fine. So keep a close eye and keep us updated!

Ah, this picture looks like theres a bit more left than first thought. Definitely keep a close eye. Interested to see what the others think!
Yeah that's the problem, I didn't see it white before but maybe it cooked while in there lol, took it out just now - he seems fine though! Fast asleep after all that tumbling about! I read something similar happens to someone else and it just means they'll need food earlier than they would've if they completely absorbed the yolk so I'll take the duckling out as soon as he dries and give food and water rather than waiting a whole 12-24 hours if he doesn't need that.

seems a good decision! Let us know how it goes once he's in the brooder! I'm sure some of the more experienced hatchers will be online sometime soon and be able to offer advice on feeding, there may be some supplements you can give or put in the water to ensure he has the nutrients he needs. Am not sure entirely, myself. Now is definitely the time to start searching for a duckling friend, for now once in the brooder, you could put a little mirror in there! I've heard that can help lone ducklings.

I'll do that, and add a little teddy for him! I called the closest wildlife rescue and they said they have three ducklings, three weeks old, but the issue is - and they said that probably applies to other rescues, because there's a bird flu going around, they aren't giving out ducklings but they're happy to take him in. Would the age gap be fine? And honestly, I really don't want to part with him so soon - it would probably be for his best interests and I knew he's going to go at some point but I didn't expect it to be this soon if I give him into the rescue! Just as abruptly as he popped out, he'll be gone :( Maybe it's time to volunteer at the rescue instead 👀. I'm facing an internal crisis at the moment!

I'm also a bit worried he thinks of a cloth as his mama! Keeps snuggling up to it.

I wouldn't risk it. It's avian influenza going around. If they dont want to risk giving them away, I dont see how they can risk bringing a duckling in... Also three weeks is a huge age gap and he'd be very likely to get picked on. If I were you, I would hold onto him and keep searching for other ducklings, in the mean time a mirror etc will help. You mentioned a friend who might have some, have you asked him/her if they have any young ducklings? It's a tricky situation!
