This has come up in other threads, and not to beat the proverbial dead horse, I'd like some help in trying to get TSC to change their "chick days". I understand that chick days is an important time of the year for future chicken husbandry, BUT it could be handle in far more humane and appropriate ways than chicks in overcrowded cattle troughs put on clearance when they are "too big and too old". Please join me in asking TSC to STOP their current practice and change it too a pre-order system where chicks are more than just an impulse buy.

Please be appropriate in your posts to TSC. The service clerks on the other end are NOT the ones that make these policies. Lets show TSC that there is enough support out there to keep them selling chicken supplies without being cruel to animals.

Thanks.
Kristen

You mentioned "impulse buy"... That is exactly why they will not stop their Chick Days. It's a big $ maker for them. Unfortunately in the corporate world, money rules. I don't know about your stores, but ours keep the chicks fed, watered, and clean. Plus, they do sell the chicks really quickly. I'm not sticking up for them, but offering some possible peace of mind??

The TSC store near me has done a excellent job with the chicks, ducks and rabbits they have on display. The young man that helps me with loading says they have sold over 500 chicks ,70 ducks and 25 rabbits. Maybe its your TSC that is falling down on the job??? I'm pleased with the image mine exhibits...

Sorry, but needing to buy chicks without the convenience of knowing it ahead of time is not always impulse buying. Had it not been for my nearby feed store having there supply of chicks in their troughs I may have had to watch the one and only Serama waste away due to having no companions. He is now quiet contented eating well and showing no signs of stress because I was able to buy two Bantams at a moments notice.

Thats interesting because they're supposed to have a minimum of 6.

Minimums must vary by store. The closest one has a minimum of 4.

Sorry I cannot support your request or your concern. TSC has every right to conduct business in any way they wish, if it is an issue for you please do something different. Begin buy buying birds that are grown and hatched by any number of small or even local breeders. If enough folks choose not to buy birds from TSC then they will manage their program differently.

When I was buying chicks from feed stores I would have been totally offended if they would have had some silly pre order business in place in order to mitigate impulse purchasing. It is the responsiblity of the consumer to manage purchases. It is the responsibilty of the merchant to make product available in the format that consumers most frequently respond to.

I cant support the premise.
