Thank you for your kind words. I’m so glad I walked up to her and got her off the roost. If she would’ve fled, like she normally would’ve, I would’nt have been able to hold and comfort her before she died. The support here is so appreciatedSorry for your loss-its sad to see a little creature go like that and feel helpless-I hope you find out the cause. I will do this and share with my husband. Thank you so much!I would try to take pictures on a white background of her organs. If there is any yellow fluid that comes out of the abdomen when it is opened, that is ascites. Look for any spots on the organs, any large masses, etc.
Perfect - thank you! This video has organs labeled:
Thank you for your kind wordsI'm so sorry for the loss of your young hensending warm hugs to you!
Oh, I’m so sorryI just lost one of my Cream Legbars several days ago the EXACT same way! Now your story makes me even more convinced it is a genetic issue relating to egg-laying. Mine had also just started laying recently and seemed to go in and out of being healthy for a month before BAM last week I went into the coop in the morning and she was just dead on the floor of the barn, looking asleep in a corner. It was very sad and I have not been able to bring myself to open her up and inspect her anatomy but I guess I should.
