Looking for a good hatchery to order Silver Sebright day olds or older from. I read the sticky but wanted some personal recomendations on somewhere that would ship fast and also had Silver Sebrights.A hawk got our sweet little SS hen last night and my son is devastated. We cannot find a full grown hen in our area so I guess we will have to buy day olds. Any ideas for a good place that I can get females? Alot of the places I have seen don't sell Silver Sebrights. And what is my luck with Straight Run going to be on getting at least one hen?

Quote:There have been some complaints on here about Ideal lately.....

Meyer has them as SR as well. I think their minimum is 15 chicks and theirs are cheaper than Ideal as well. Ideal has a $7.00 handling fee on top of the price of the chicks.

You will have to call Meyer as their online ordering is not operational right now. They have been working to upgrade it for a few months.

Meyer has a small order program. Call them. They'll ship as few as 3 chicks.
I got my chicks from them this spring & they all turned out very nice; I'm very pleased with their service and quality of their chicks.

I just got my order from Cackle hatchery this morning and was very pleased. I looked on their website and they show "sold out" of silver seabrights though. When I picked up my chicks at the post office they had a second order of chicks also waiting for pickup. The box was from Stromberg's and there was lots of peeping from inside. Stromberg's website shows that they have silver seabrights although thier minimum is higher. You might be bold as brass and call both places and offer to pay higher shipping, a small order fee etc. and see if they might be able to work something out.

Quote:You can mix the order to get to the $25 min. For example
I ordered 4 day old BO Pullets, a t shirt and some grow gel. It put me over the min. Good to go!
I would have loved to get some Seabrights, but with my luckthey all would have been boys.
