So you got it rolled over? Good... And the beak is near the fat end of the egg? What's your humidity at? Can you take a picture?

so flexible membrane is good? The membrane looks a little gooey. It looks a little dry, but that's a pretty good hole! I think its big enough that he is getting plenty of air, so he could start zipping any time. And it looks like its in a good spot. Keep talking to him and try to make him chirp every once in a while, but don't wear him out. Watch for the membrane to get too dry (brittle looking) or if it starts sticking to him, you might have to open the lid to dab a little water on it. But I think I'd leave it for a bit, since you are still early, and humidity has been good. When you get him to chirp, you should be able to look at the membrane and see if it still looks flexible. You are doing fine... so keep breathing yourself too!![]()

ok thanksYes, you want it to look flexible, not dry. Gooey is better than dry haha. If it starts drying out, it can stick to the feathers, and make it hard for him to turn to zip. I'm leaving work shortly and will check in after while, as I can. @AmyLynn2374
can help too! And anyone else! Just remember ducks take a little longer than chicks, so don't rush to do anything drastic too soon.

it just hatched. His head came out first so I held the shel and he tugged free of it. He has some gunk on him though I was wondering if it was yolk but I am not exactly sure. From here on out, its pretty much like a chicken, just that they sometimes take a little longer than chicks. Since you only have the one in there alone, if it gets to looking dry, I'd have a small sponge handy, dip my finger in a little warm water, or use a q-tip, open the lid and dab around the hole a little to dampen the membrane. If the humidity drops much, pop the sponge in to help get it back up quickly.
Is it still cheeping good?
