Any way to get another duckling?
Ducks are alot messier than chicks. They make a total mess with food and water! So your chicks are a week old already? Or thereabouts. They should be ok around the duck but they might pick on it, since its the only one.
Ducks and chicks can have chick starter, but most folks will tell you that ducks need more protein and niacin than chicks do, and its not good for chicks to have as much as the ducks. I know people that only do chick starter and ducks are ok on it. So its up to you really. But I think the water will be more of a problem. Ducks must have open water enough to get their entire bill in so they can keep their nares cleaned out. Never give a duck access to feed without access to water.

I believe (unmedicated- I think I read somewhere ducks should not have the medicated,) starter crumble I believe is ok for both....is it not @WVduckchick

I think it was old medicated stuff that was bad for ducks. I gave medicated showbird/gamebird starter and mine are fine. The two chicks ate it too, because they were in with the turkey at the same time, plus the ducks in another brooder. I put both chick starter and gamebird in the long tray feeder and the chicks seemed to like the gamebird better. It didn't seem to bother them.

So medicated gamebird starter sounds like it works for both. I will probably ask the person working at the feed store too.

Yea I think I used it for the first 6 weeks or so, then switched to regular chick starter. What kind of chicks? It might make them grow a little faster lol
