Please help! Sick hen, watery green poo.

UPDATE: So I decided to go with my gut and didn’t worm her. I don’t think those were worms in her poo, even though it may look like it in the photo. The way she kept squatting and clucking this morning made me think she was egg bound, so I soaked her in a warm, epsom salt bath for 20 mintutes and ten minutes later...voila! I added probiotics and electrolytes to my girls water due to the heat. Hopefully, she starts perking up soon.

Wow, impressive! That's not a normal egg, right? Looks to me like she probably has an infection (salpingitis).

See the globs in this? Those are probably part of the infection. Do you have any antibiotics?

@survivorchick, are you close to UC Davis, Turlock, or Tulare? If so you could take some poop and that egg to one of the CAHFS labs and have them tested for bacteria. You could also have the poop test for worms.

That looks like a lash egg to me. Can you cut it in half and take a photo? If it is rubbery inside and looks like it has concentric layers like an onion, you need to get some antibiotics into her sooner rather than later..... research salpingitis.... it is usually fatal but she could muddle along for several weeks or even months before it comes to a head.

If it is rubbery inside and looks like it has concentric layers like an onion, you need to get some antibiotics into her sooner rather than later..... research salpingitis.... it is usually fatal but she could muddle along for several weeks or even months before it comes to a head.

I agree. I think with *aggressive* treatment there is a chance she could pull through.

I agree, that that looks like a type of lash egg, and she may have salpingitis. I also think that in post 1, the dropping had 2 roundworms in it.

This is what the inside looks like. I have tetracycline but it has been out in my shed and it has been hot. Of course, our feed store can no longer sell antibiotics and there are no avian vets close by.

Thank you! I called a veterinary office and the doctor said the tetracycline I have should be fine. EXP. 3/20. It’s a powder you mix with water. I hope it’s not too late.
