sorry im not an expert either. this was only our second time hatching eggs, but i learned a lot and thought i might help. but still, thats kinda weird that you dont see it's beak

Ok thank you. We are going to name it Lucky. It sounds kind or cliche but it going to be a lucky chick if it hatchs. Thank you for the advice and if y’all have anymore t would be greatly appreciated!

nice name! also, when a chick hatches, if it's a pullet it has feather sprouts when its born. roos dont get them till about a week after their born. once its out you can tell pretty easily

it works most of the time. both our hatchlings are pullets, thank goodness. we cant have a roo and don't really want one either

hi! This situation happened very recently to me... we had a late hatching egg and the chick could not get out even though she had pierced a tiny hole and was chirping... I eventually after a few hours of waiting helped the chick out of the egg, very gently try to pull the top of the egg off (if their is no blood) and with clean hands set her under mother hen or a heat lamp to dry. with ours I let the chick dry before putting her under mother hen (it was her very first brood) as the hen was moving around now. For a few hours I was very worried but the chick gained her balance and now (2 weeks old) run happily after mother hen and her 3 siblings.

pretty much the exact same happened to me. but mama was keeping our first hatched warm while she dried off. this was our mama's first time hatching eggs, and she did pretty well, with a 2/3 hatch
