Ok I helped it a bit more by widening the hole. I just did it and can Anyone tell me if this is normal? It’s trying to push its way out right now and is peeping. It can’t get out though. It just tried but was unsuccessful.

It keeps acting like it’s chewing something... I think there is a membrane surrounding the rest of its body.

The breed is a cross between an Easter egger and a buff Orpington.

The chewing/yawning is it finishing absorbing yolk.

I read that you can chip away in the area where the air cell is so I chipped some of it away to see if it was shrinkwrapped. I did not assist it in any other way. Is it shrinkwrapped? How can you tell?

Don't think so. The membrane will be pulled away from the shell and wrapping the chick where it won't be able to move.

I'm not caught up here but I'd like to say I think you should put this egg down.
Give it some time to do it's job...itself.
