Thank youAfter the chick 'pips', or makes a hole in the shell, it will 'zip'. This is when the chick turns around in the egg, cracking the eggshell all the way around the egg as it goes, effectively hatching. It is part of the three basic hatching steps:
1.Internal Pip
2.External Pip
3.Zip (or hatching)
It's the final phase of the incubation process, and when the zipping is done and the top pops off, that is the hatching phase....they may or may not come out of the shell quickly but usually they get separated from the shell at this point quickly.
