Glad she is better! Since she's responing to Tylan there is a very good chance that she has MG (Mycoplasma gallisepticum), so it might be a good idea to have her tested.Hello everybody!!! I have had her on Tylan 50 for 2 days now and she's hardly wheezing and this morning she's breathing woth her beak closed, and holding her wings up and not dragging them around when she walks. Its been a stressful week but its been worth it to see her this morning looking good!!! Thank you!
Everything I have read says dosing twice a day is ideal, but I don't use it, so can't comment on it's efficacy either way. As for the dose, you're giving about 18.5mg/kg, and again, I don't use it, so can't comment on the amount.
What vets have told me is that antibiotics should be given two days past the cessation of symptoms. If you're only giving it once a day you might try twice a day for a few more days. If the chick is still symptomatic, it's possible that it has another bacteria that like E. coli or Pseudomonas, either of those would require a different antibiotic - Tylan does not work on those.
