I don’t have the heart to throw it away unless I am hurting her in someway by leaving it. I would rather let her discard it and move on. But will do whatever you advise

With only one left, I agree, just leave it until she discards it. If you take it, it could upset her more. If she disposes of it on her own, she will know it’s over.

On the bright side, they do usually move on quickly and get over it.
The other option is to look for some local ducklings to give her.

I think that is the best way just let her take care of it all. So sorry it's sad she sat this long without hatching any but like WV said they get over it pretty quick easier than us actually.

It is sad. Once she discards the last egg, what do I do? Break up the nest? Temporarily fence that area so she can’t return? Etc?

My dad is still in the hospital in NC so I am needed to fill in “shifts” there so getting a duckling would only prolong my leaving. My family all have hearts for animals and have been understanding as to why I have only made a couple of short trips up there. Think I need to go pull my weight when this is over and give others a chance to rest.

Yes, just scatter the nest. You probably don’t need to block it off unless she keeps returning. She will likely leave it alone.
