And you only have the one female which is her? She must have laid an egg if there is one more than should be. I am thinking if you want to save these ducklings now might be the time to step in. I haven’ t the foggiest idea why she is doing this. Brain chemistry is def not working right. If you decide get your incubator set up and at right temp then before bedtime since it seem middle of the night is when she does this take the eggs all but the newest. And finish the Incubation. The newest just toss unless you want her to start again.

Could you tell if the yolk was absorbed? And what did the shell look like (zipped or crushed)? Does it look like it hatched, or she ripped the shell open? Once they get close to hatching, they can feel whether there is movement inside the egg or not. She could have broken it open to check it first, and if the duckling was already dead, she was discarding it.
If the duckling looked chewed on or pecked on, she may be killing them.

@WVduckchick she has been doing this a couple times now plus somehow broken some of the eggs in her nest. Do you think she should intervene now or wait it out? When my Muscovy recently stomped on one of her eggs I made the decision to take the other two eggs in mid hatch because I just didn’t feel comfortable leaving them with her. Day 41 maybe they are all dead and she is deposing of them one by one :(

Update: I just returned last evening. As evident from the security camera she took another egg off in the middle of the night (Wednesday). ..... I reviewed the camera footage last night and saw her do the same thing. I found the duckling this morning. Dead and outside of the shell. However, there are still 7 eggs (there should only be 6 now) . Is it that she is still laying and killing the ones as they hatch??? Is it time for me to take the eggs away and attempt to put them in the incubator?? This is all new to me. It’s tearing me up.

Note: today is day 41 since I first found her sitting on the Nest

The one I found this morning was completely out of the shell. No shell around. She took it out of the nest at 1:50 am. I have pics of both. Is there a private way for me to share the pics with you? They are graphic in my opinion and possibly not appropriate to post here. Don’t know

I didn’t realize it was that late. I would probably take the eggs also. :(

Yes day 41 since I found her sitting however she continued laying while sitting. We have a camera on her since June 9th and the poor thing is only getting off the nest for an hour if that. .... Went from 11 eggs on June 9th to 19 eggs on June 30th. Going down regularly since then except for this week when she must have layed one possibly 2 more.
