i made a incubator out of polystyrene and i put a cap of water inside it for humidity and that but the smell is so bad like gas.help

That doesn't sound good :/ Fumes of that nature could be toxic to chicks. Can you post a picture of it? What else did you use in the making of it besides the foam?

its fine now i realised that the polyesterene was melting under the aluminium so i made another incubator out of a box

But also when the chicks hatch what temperature do i put it at because im using a 60 watt bulb.can i leave the top open so they dont get to hot??? and is aluminium foil good to put around.how long do i need to take out the chicks when they hatch???
