I’m a first time chicken owner and I’ve had her for about 4 months now and a few days ago I noticed it’s leg was hurt or something well now she won’t stand won’t walk won’t lay she just falls over and I really don’t think she eating or drinking , she seems to try and turn her neck but can’t do that and just keeps moving it , I was told to keep her inside in a nice size cage and take her outside and get her used to the weather and I really think that’s where I’ve gone wrong , I don’t want her suffering , is she dying or what PLEASE HELP!!!

I am relatively new myself, but more experienced owners will chime in soon. @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock @aart (I hope they don't mind me asking them to chime in - they have always been super helpful for me in the past!)

More info would be helpful: How old is she? What have you been feeding her? Do you have other birds? If you do, I would isolate her quickly. Hydration is important. Is she taking any water at all?

Good questions that I would have asked.
Pics or better yet video would help.
Upload videos to youtube or vimeo and link here

Welcome to BYC. Where are you located (state or country?) How old is she? Do you know if she was vaccinated dor Mareks disease? Are her toes on the bad leg curled under? Can you get some B Complex vitamins that have riboflavin (vitamin B 2?) A vitamin tonic would also be useful, or you may give some chopped liver or nutritional yeast. I would mix some chicken feed together with water, a spponful of yogurt, and a little egg. Keep her close to food and water.

Can you make her a chicken sling over a basket or box, or hung from inside the top of a cage? That will get her up on her feet, keep her clean, and put some food and water in front of her. Take her out often to move her legs and stretch. Here are some examples to see:

You could give her a leg splint. There’s plenty videos on YouTube on how to make a DIY leg splint for her. But, I would make sure that the leg is broken. Hope your chicken gets well soon.
