So the adults held the 3week old chick down and pecked her neck until she was almost without her head.
I was so happy she was alive but bleeding. Seems like it happen late late Saturday morning like 2-4am.
Bloody, 8am I saw and grabbed her and the rest and noticed DUH the chicks will continue pecking her bc she’s red!
I quickly separated her. I will NOT be putting the 3 week olds outside ANYmore.
I let the 6ish week ones outside during the day but since we’re in the middle of building a 12 ft coop, should /BETTER be finished by Sunday, I’m hoping the older chicks will be okay sleeping today.
1st- PLEASE TELL ME YOUR OPINION ON THAT!!
2nd- I’ve been told to get veticyn ** (sp*) and the store I went to, to get the start n grow feed, the owner happens to be on this site as well. She agreed with the veticyn (sp***?) but an immediate replacement that’s basically the same is BANNIXX for CHIXX. (Last pic) w/today’s pics. The swollen part went away thank god.
I’ll post a pic of that as well.
Athena is doing SO well, that’s how she got the name of a goddess. A fire fighter friend of mine gave me a bunch of supplies that Ive never used because everyone said that it’d be too dangerous and would kill the chick. He said she would be dead by today, but chicks and chickens are extremely resilient, or so I’ve heard from this site and now I see it with my own eyes and my believe it.
I’m wondering, can I use the sterile water in the box that he gave me? To spray her neck? Or just use the BANIXX FOR CHIXX spray??
Okay here’s her pics of her getting better!
Is there any opinions? Do I still have to fear the flies flying around?
Also, is there a way of training and calming down the rooster, the number one pecking order rooster..?
