please look...EE pullet not walking/standing

lol thanks, today she tried to stand also but it was mainly on her left hock her right seems weaker. But she ate a whole hardboiled egg and an apple along with her feed. She was lively maybe she is on the road to recovery , I will say she hates the pvs, I even put it on her apple she would touch it lol so I had to get her another apple, me thinks she is spoiled heehee

My friends think I am funny doing leg massage on a chicken but they understand. they know I love animals =0)

thanks for all your help and input! I appreicate it so much. I will keep you all posted.

I had to give pvs one of mine, months ago, and found out that she lapped it up when I mixed it with some live culture plain yogurt (and frozen/thawed berries, if I had them).

thanks for the vote of confidence. She tried to stand upright on her hocks and look around. I think she feels stronger but I feel that she is to be a house chicken for a few weeks. She is looking better but I thought she would be better by now. I lay her on her back and make her legs do the bicycle and massage them and when she has enough she pulls her legs away and kicks so I know she can move them but she cant support her weight yet...I am nuts I know..... The things you do for your pets lol

Still no change. Her hocks that she sits on are getting small sores. They are red and the left one looks worse. I give the vitamins veggies fruit crumbles everything except for the yeast I cant find it. She eats poops a few times a day and lays her egg. She is alert etc. Is it possible a young girl like this would have had a stroke???? and that is why she doesnt stand or walk?? I even... dont laugh, I made her a chicken jumper ok go ahead laugh I did. lol like a baby jumper they sit in it and the legs stick out the bottom. I thought if she was in the upright walking/standing position it might strengthen her legs. she doesnt like it much but is getting usd to it. I wish I could get a pic posted here to show you all but I was only able to get a pic to upload ones before and never again. I feel bad sheis lively and alert. I thought of bringing in a friend for her to hang out with she must be lonley. But I was afraid if the was a catchy thing. None of teh others are acting anything other than normal and if it was a disease etc she would have gotten worse by now not better. It has been a week and a half so far.

Hi Kathy, you are a born improvisor! Congratulations on creating that jumper for her. I think, somewhere on BYC, I saw someone else's picture of the same thing -- they, too, created a leg sling where their bird could "stand upright".

Gosh, I don't have a clear idea what could be wrong with her. Personally, I'd continue doing everything you are already doing. Since you can't get the nutritional yeast, I wonder if you can get some food that's rich in B vitamins. Like beef liver, for example? My farmer, at the farmers market, told me his chickens LOVE beef liver. LOL, I wouldn't have imagined -- but a couple months ago I bought some for my girls, just as a treat, and they De-voured it. So, maybe you can find that?

I was checking BYC archives, and found this thread from '08... person sounds like they had a hen with symptoms VERY similar to yours. The BYC member is chickennannie. I wonder if you can PM them & ask if they ever found out what it was, and what happened to their hen. You might get some answers? I really hope so.

Oh, about her leg sores, can you dab some antibiotic ointment on them, cover with gauze, and wrap with vet wrap - to keep the sores from infecting? I wonder if the vet wrap, too, would help cushion the skin, where she sits, from abrasions.

Fingers still crossed!

I am putting cream on her booboos now, thanks so much for finding that post, I read it and it sounds like Muffy. I sent the poster a pm so maybe they will be online soon and write back. I hope so it is hard keeping her in the house, I know she would be happier with her friends but she cant go out there like this. She is eating alot sometimes she has watery poop, but she drinka alot of water sometimes. i dont see any worms or anything in her poop either.
