Please: Need advice!

Mine? I had 2 Rhode Island Reds, 1 black Australorp, and still have 2 EEs, but don't know for how much longer.

Not sure how your chickens will be, but I started out with a pen that I could move around. Let me tell you, they LOVED it when it was moved, even if it was only about 4 inches. It wasnt really light enuff to do the tractor thing, but it seems new ground keeps mine interested. I am thinking about throwing together a tractor now that I have the pen attached to the coop and its not really moveable.

For one thing, when I moved it around, they were less bored. For the second thing, it didnt smell at all, and now, after sitting in one place, even with just two chickens and me being super diligent, I can smell them by evening. So, this weekend, am working on throwing something together. If I could do it, you certainly can to, altho you might have to have dear SO cut a piece of wood or hold that stupid hardware cloth so you dont kill yourself with it, whilst you get it under control.

Actually, the other week I did move the pen about one foot, so they got 13 square feet of new ground. Didn't even seem to notice! I think I may need to try the tractor thing, but I know that when I let them out into the yard, they like that they can run for some distance. I'll see though if it settles them down a bit.
