IMG_0809.JPG I just noticed last night that my chicken of 4 years has a swollen eye and today when I checked on her it looked worse. I have read about people giving their chickens antibiotics but I am not able to get any. Is there anything else I can do? Is this fatal or will it clear up? Please help. Thank you.

Is there any respiratory symptoms like wheezing or rattling when breathing? Sometimes a respiratory infection will cause face swelling. I had a rooster whose face swelled up last fall. He quickly went down hill and died from it. Hopefully someone else has some better advice for you than I do.

I applied an antibiotic ointment to her eye and I am going to see how that does by the morning but she only has the one eye and the rest of her face is normal so I don't think it's respiratory related. Thanks for the tip though.
