Okay, well my local store never even used the new brooders so I’m going off of what I’ve seen throughout the internet, and of course I haven’t done extensive research into this so I’m not entirely sure what the percentage of stores with excessive pasty butt is.
It's probably quite close to 50 50 good and bad stores

Neither am I. I can say my local store had what I would call a bad pasty butt issue. It is easier to notice in the stacking brooders than the old stock tanks at shin level. I think that's what concerned me most...it's so easy to see now. My biggest issue was seeing my words come out of the cashier's other ear. I just won't buy a chick from TSC.

My TSC takes pretty good care of their chicks, it’s very small and they are supplied from local farms and breeders. Anyway, I’ve never seen any issues, I look for pasty butt all the time and check the birds. I just left there about 10 minutes ago and the only problem I could see was that the birds’ waterers were filled with shavings.

You are making a lot of assumptions based on not really knowing. SMH.

Are you sure about this?
I do not believe that they would buy chicks from anywhere other than hatcheries.

I’ve had a hard day, it’s and honestly have not been thinking before speaking. Please don’t get all over me here, I do not intend to do these things but I’m almost unconsciously speaking.

They do though, I’ve asked before and it makes sense because. Perhaps that isn’t true but I’m unsure why they would tell me that if it wasn’t.

Last spring, mine mentioned that they (my store at least) would, but you need to provide all the paperwork that proves your flock is healthy and they have to be certain breeds. You can't just show up with a box of mutts. Plus they said that it wouldn't really be worth selling then to tsc since they wouldn't give much at all for them. Better to just put an ad up by the restrooms for yours.

But they may not have known themselves. The person I was talking too had just been put in charge so he was probably only half through the handbook and joking around with the crazy chicken girl

No matter what TSC does, there is always something wrong with how the chicks are handled. People didn't like the metal tins being used and complained. They didn't like how people were handling chicks and so forth. No matter what, I do admire TSC for making changes in order to improve the chicks habitats. No, they are not perfect but TSC did respond and made changes. The brooders they now use are typical of hatcheries except TSC has plastic sides so people can see the chicks. The brooders are fine. The problem is the people are not educated in how to use these devices. The only times I've seen stressed chicks is when, for some reason, pellets were being used instead of crumbles and the water was either dirty or non-existent. The brooders do work. Yes, they are odd looking but these are used in hatcheries all across the country with success. The true problem is the lack of attention. No matter what the chicks are in it needs to be clean, warm and dry. And that takes people who care enough to actually tend to the chicks.

Well said.
I bet this time next year people are gonna complain about the bins being used.
