Please stay home when sick

My mom is in a nursing home. The nursing home is not accepting doctor's notes from the nursing staff either. So they are all coming in sick...they had a stomach virus go through last month that got one whole hall of patients sick. Thank God my mom wasn't one of them. Now they have people infected with H1N1 and don't even require masks. My mom has COPD and a compromised immune system...I am going to let them know if something happens to her...I'm coming after them....and hell's coming with me.....

How can a nursing home not accept doctor's notes?!

Although in a way it doesn't surprise me that much. My mom was an RCA and I couldn't believe how badly some of the care aides treated those poor old folks. Really unmoral.

We decided to send the kids back to public school this fall after being homeschooled for two years. They all have special needs so I got their flu shots early but of course H1N1 shots weren't available. Now they've brought it home and my husband, who has asthma, now has pneumonia because of the H1N1 flu. He's home on oxygen, taking the strongest (and most expensive) antibiotics known to man, and the always wondrous cough syrup with codeine. I have the stuff but the worst of it for me is this awful headache and aches and pains. Three of the kids are home sick and it just breaks my heart to see them so ill.
I totally get that these parents can't afford the time off work so they sent their kids to school on days when they probably should have stayed home but my kids aren't going to contribute.

I would love to be able to stay home when I am sick but I work in the healthcare field and they are not always forgiving about calling out. I've worked while running a fever and vomiting only because they would not let me stay out and threatened to fire me. I'm the only one with an income so getting fired is not an option. I did wear a mask to try to be considerate. (Just a note I had to work in the nursery that week too!)

This Title Says It ALL! I'm not an over protected stay at home mom.. but when my kid is coughing or seems sick I started keeping them home last year when they showed symtoms hoping other parents would follow.. LOL Its not good for the kids to miss school, but in the same fact.. if everyone would keep their sick kids or selves home, we could get rid of these bugs way quicker. and I mean stay home, in your house.. don't go to the grocery store , shopping etc.. But hey.. just another opinion. grin

I'm going to rat on someone because this just blew my mind. A facebook friend recently posted that she had her sick son in the office with her and would be taking him to his 1:30 doctor's appt to see if he had the flu.

Later she posted that, yep, he was positive for H1N1. I'm sure her co-workers were so happy that she went in for that 1/2 of a day! I would have been

if I worked with her.

If you're sick, or if your kid is sick, please be thoughtful and STAY HOME!

Ew, yes, sick people at the grocery store really gross me out, coughing and hacking with their mouths open in the produce section.

There was a woman in the grocery store yesterday who just happened to go down every aisle we did, coughing this nasty bubbly cough without covering it. Its sooooo disgusting. Please cover your mouths people.

Geez at least yesterday when I HAD to go out I kept a cloth over my mouth and told everyone to stay back. Told the cashier to use hand sanitizer when she was done with me. Sometimes you HAVE to go out when sick, but be considerate.

I decided to take a leave of absence due to the flu. I HAD to go in to get the paperwork, get the doctor's note, etc.

While I was in there, I was asked repeatedly if I would be coming in to work today. I had called in 3 days in a row and just said enough was enough. Then my boyfriend got it...took him into the CareExpress in Wal-Mart and was AGAIN asked if I would be coming in to work today.

I felt pressured to go into work, even when I was excused from work!

Each time I went in, I had a mask covering my face...can people NOT see I'm sick? Good Lord.
