Please stay home when sick

...while you are all sick, please refrain from asking me to babysit your kid who just happens to BE sick but you don't tell anyone until after you've dropped them off and take off!

So now my kid is sick!!!!

I should run you people over with my car!

In this world we all live in, what would it take to have it held as normal, not to ask people to work, go to school, ect... if they are running a fever, or throwing up? Half the entire world's population gone?

That is one scary thought!

I'm generally more sympathetic to people in a grocery store than I am at say, the bookstore or movie theater.

Sometimes, you have no choice but to go to the grocery (especially if it doubles as your pharmacy) when you are sick.

However, you should get in, get what you need, and get out. No browsing, especially over the produce.

Yeah, last time I was sick there was NO food. I really really needed some soup, so I had to go out. I had a sore throat so bad that if it wasn't liquid I couldn't eat it. So I went and got soup, applesauce, popcicles, ice cream, etc. while I was waiting on my 'script.

Every job I've ever had the boss would guilt trip you if you called in sick. If you were sick for more than 3 days you had to go on FMLA leave, which was a lot of paperwork and crap.
I was so sick once with the regular flu, fever so bad I could barely hold up the phone, but my boss was like "can't you just take some medicine or something, we really need you"
Yeah. Right.
Needless to say, I learned to just not call at all - - which sometimes is viewed as "even worse than calling in" I guess it just depends on your particular boss.

The kids and I went to the grocery store today. After paying for my groceries, the cashier asked me something I couldn't understand, then coughed into her hand. The bag boy said "What's that you're croaking? Ha ha, I can make fun of you cuz you're sick!"

I understand why she's there, I know, I know. But I'm NOT happy.

The employers who are the worst offenders are often restaurants. It's hard for them to get by short-staffed, so they expect their sick employees to come in and tough it out and cook and serve you meals.

In our area, there are a lot of dual income households. It's hard to afford a home in this area any other way. People send their kids to school sick because if the kid stays home, one parent needs to burn a vacation day to stay home with them. I never used to get sick; then I had kids in early elementary, and we had several disease outbreaks a year at our house, kids first, then my wife and I catching it from them.

My sister in law had it worse. She used to work for a big IT firm in San Jose, and had her kids in the workplace day care. A lot of employees there hailed from all corners of the globe, and often flew home to visit ... and brought third-world diseases back with them. Her pediatrician (conveniently right down the road from work) said that he saw the strangest things in his practice, diseases that he read about in med school but never expected to see.

I totally agree about staying home when your sick. You do state not infecting fowl as well.

That is my question; can my chickens get H1N1 from me?

YES...STAY HOME WHEN YOUR SICK!!!!!!

I was an ER nurse.

Cant count the times people come to the hospital and flock in four and five at a time to visit ER folks, then go room to room trying to see who they can see....bring their kids and let them run wild....then have the kids back as patients swearing they have no clue why they are sick.

Grrr.......

Most times I keep my kids home if they seem to be getting sick.

Unfortunately, the school has their limits and will report me to the truancy officer if I keep them home to much.Even if I spend $75-200 for a doctor visit/note we can still get in trouble. I am all for limiting the spread, but the doctor bills and court cost(trunacy) stinks.

Still,my kids come first and I keep them home when I think they need to stay home. I will deal with the school/court later! K was the worst with ds getting sick A LOT.

One of our local hospitals (the one I'll deliver at) has a new policy during this flu season that no one under 18 is allowed to visit anyone in the hospital. I think that is a good idea!
